Progress On Utah Wildfires, But Some Closures Remain
Update: On Aug 15, officials announced that all facilities at Rockport
State Park are open, but the lake is closed to boating.
Crews have worked hard and made considerable progress containing the devastating wildfire that has destroyed homes near Rockport Reservoir, northeast of Park City.

Hwy 32 has reopened along the
reservoir, according to news reports. Rockport
State Park is open. At this writing, the following
communities are under an evacuation order. The closures will last at
least until 6 pm tomorrow.
- Rockport Estates
- Rockport Ranches
- Bridge Hollow
- Promontory
Millville Fire
Another fire burning near Millville,
just south of Logan, has caused
officials to close part of Blacksmith Fork Canyon. People camping in
that area have been ordered out and no private vehicles will be
allowed in the canyon until fire danger abates.
Other Fires
At this writing, these major fires are
burning in Utah:
- Rockport northeast of Park City
- Millville southeast of Logan
- Patch Springs in Skull Valley west of Tooele
- State Fire along the Utah/Idaho line near the town of Portage
Other, smaller fires are burning in
some but are not causing significant closures.
Utah's
national parks are located in southern Utah and are not affected
by these fires. Rockport State Park is the only major park or
recreation area being affected by fire.
