Ski resorts pick up new powder

The largest snowstorm of the season dumped on Utah Feb. 6-7, leaving deep new powder on our mountains. Ski conditions were already good and now they are excellent at most resorts.

Alta and Snowbird ski resorts received about 22 inches of new snow from the storm. Other resorts received slightly less. Communities from Logan to Provo recorded varying amounts, with up to 12 inches on some city sidewalks. Numerous accidents occurred during the storm but roads have now been cleared and are in good shape.

Warmer temperatures are expected for the next several days. Meteorologists are watching another weather disturbance that could hit Utah Thursday and Friday. It looks like it will not be as severe; it could produce rain and/or snow statewide, with southern Utah receiving the most moisture.
